Guided-Implant Placement in Monterey

The success of dental implants is largely dependent on their accurate placement into the jaw. There is now cutting-edge technology that can guide the dentist in precisely placing the implants, ensuring a safe and predictable dental implant procedure.

What are Implant Supported Restorations

Implant posts are made of biocompatible titanium that acts as a natural tooth root. When placed into the jaw, bone grows around the implants. The posts then fuse to the bone after about three to four months. Implants replace tooth roots while supporting prosthetic crowns. When your implant-supported restoration is complete, the function and beauty of a tooth are completely restored.

Cutting Edge Technology for Accurate Placement of Dental Implants

To place the implant posts, the dentist first takes 3D x-rays of the jaw using a Cone Beam Scanner. These images are highly detailed, revealing both bone and soft tissue in the jaw. Dentists can see the location of the nerves, adjacent tooth roots, sinuses, and density of the bone.

Next, the images are loaded into a radiograph where an evaluation is completed, and a plan devised for optimal placement of the implants. Finally, robotic metal cylinders and a drilling instrument use the predetermined surgical plan to precisely place the implant posts into the jaw.

The dentist can flexibly adjust this navigation system when there is patient movement or unplanned anatomic variations are encountered.

Important Considerations of Implant Placement

There are many elements to consider when placing implant posts, for example:

Adjacent tooth roots need to be protected.
Nerves must not be impinged upon by implants.
Adjacent Implant posts must align properly so crowns fit properly.
Bone density is evaluated to avoid puncturing sinus cavities.
